Sutherland Construction is a firm located in Charlotte, VT, specializing in small to large residential remodeling and renovation projects. We pride ourselves on developing strong client relationships, effective communication, efficient work flow and a strong work ethic, project safety and cleanliness, and beautiful craftsmanship.

For larger scale remodels and renovations we will work in tandem with your, or our, architect or design professional. We work seamlessly with architect or design professionals to develop the scope of work, design details, realistic budgets and schedule. We are happy to collaborate directly with clients on smaller scale projects. For these smaller projects we can find the best solution working directly with you and a few graphic aids. If you are not sure, we can help find a solution that works best for the project.

Sutherland Construction was founded in 2012 by Damien Helem. Born and raised in Melbourne, Australia, Damien found his way to Vermont after traveling the globe and most recently living in London UK and Boston. In London he worked as an assistant conservator for the prestigious decorating firm Hare & Humphrey's specializing in historic restoration and high end painting projects such as St Paul’s Cathedral and Hackney Empire. In Boston he further developed his skills in the building trades. Working for a high end residential renovation firm he quickly progressed from lead carpenter to project manager overseeing projects ranging from historic brownstone renovations such as Faneuil Hall upgrades to high end contemporary condo renovations.
